About Me

Shelley Juran

Psychologist

We all want to be "understood." My job, as a psychologist, is to listen very carefully and to understand what is going on that is troubling you. Together, it becomes clearer and we work on ways for you to feel more real and alive in the world. Perceptions about yourself and internalized relations from the past are explored and re-evaluated so that self-defeating thought patterns and behaviors can be discarded. What emerges are more realistic perceptions, attitudes and behaviors about yourself and your relationships. The therapy itself is a relationship. The goal is to feel more "together" and meaningfully connected with others.

While having excellent academic training and more than 30 years of experience as a licensed Psychologist is helpful, what is most important is my real concern for my clients and a truly empathic approach. We work as a team.

Individuals come to me because they are troubled by anxiety and/or depression as well as relationship issues.

I also work with couples who have communication and/or sexual issues. It's often easier to talk about couple's issues with an empathic and respectful "other."

Additionally, I have a specialty in gender role and gender identity issues and am considered a "non-sexist" therapist and gender specialist.

Experienced with marital issues, couple's counselling, women's issues, sexual problems, anxiety issues, depression and gender identity concerns.
